Lip Augmentation

Fuller lips are becoming increasingly popular throughout society, however majority of patients desire bigger lips, with the hopes of maintaining naturalism.

Lip augmentation is primarily designed to restore shape, volume and projection to the lip border and body. The main injection points in lip augmentation are the vermilion border, oral commisures, cupids bow and philtrum.

At SarahLouise Aesthetics multiple techniques and dermal fillers can be used to create bespoke treatments that meet each individuals needs. The clinical outcomes of lip augmentation are defined by th patients unique anatomy, injection technique and volume and type of dermal filler used. It is important to remember when considering lip augmentation to be involved in your care and treatment plan to achieve an optimal result. Treatments generally take up to 30 minutes and you can resume your normal daily activities following the procedure.

How does Lip Filler work?

At SarahLouise Aesthetics we use Hyaluronic Acid (HA) based fillers which are injected into the lip, to increase volume and size.  Hyaluronic acid fillers work by not only plumping the lip directly but also trapping water within lips for a natural, plump pout. We advise to remain hydrated following lip enhancement for optimal results.

How is the procedure done?

A full assessment will be carried out by our practitioners ensuring you are a correct candidate for the procedure. The practitioner will decide with you what dermal filler to use and the amount that is appropriate to your individual anatomy. Numbing cream is applied onto the lips before the injections. The filler can be administered by either needle or cannula. Depending on your desired outcome the practitioner can advise which one would be better suited to you. Once the procedure is completed the practitioner will advise of your aftercare.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure takes 20-30 minutes in total. There will always be 30 minutes allocated to the appointment time to ensure a complete medical history and consultation has taken place, as well as enough time for clinic before and after photos to be taken.

What is the downtime, side effects and risks?

Downtime varies from person to person, however as a general rule you will experience swelling, redness and possibly some bruising. Majority of the inflammation will disappear around day 3 following your procedure. However, bruising may take a little longer to be completely gone. We do advise if you are sensitive to bruising and bleeding to take arnica tablets 5-7 days before the procedure to reduce your post procedure side effects and downtime.

How long does it last?

Most lip fillers last 3-9 months depending on which formula is chosen. We advise first time patients they may need to return from 2-3 months following their procedure to build volume and structure to the lip. From there most patients return once every 4-6 months to maintain the results.
