Skin Micro Needling

Automated skin micro-needling is a modern innovation in non surgical cosmetic treatments for the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and overall skin texture, tone and color. The Eclipse Micropen works by injecting needles into deeper layers of the skin, creating trauma to stimulate new collagen and elastin. The skins natural inflammation and repair process begins to heal scarring and plump out lines and wrinkles.

How Is MicroPen Different From Dermal Needling Rollers?

Automated micro-needling devices move in a vertical direction for accurate precision, creating less trauma to the skin, opposed to skin rollers that potentially graze the epidermis when rolled over the skin. Unlike automated Micro-needling, the roller does not create a precise vertical action and instead can create unnecessary trauma and damage to the epidermis, resulting in longer downtime and unfavorable results.

How Is The Procedure Done?

A sterile applicator containing 12 micro-needles is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen device, which is then glided over the entire face or affected area creating small incisions into the skin down to the dermis. The needle depth can be adjusted to different lengths to customize each treatment to the individuals needs.

Does it Hurt?

The treatment is not extremely painful, it can cause some discomfort, however a topical numbing solution is applied to the area before treatment. The needle depth can be adjusted to ensure the procedure is tolerable and our practitioners dedicate their time to ensuring your comfort and safety has been addressed.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure takes 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated. 60 minutes is always allocated for each appointment time to ensure a complete medical history and consent forms have been completed. This also allows time for effective numbing to take place.

What is the downtime?

Immediately after the treatment, you will notice redness to the skin and possibly a small amount of blood. The total recovery time depends on the depth of the needles and the results trying to be obtained. On average, patients are red for 2-4 days. Majority of patients heal completely in 24 hours.

When will I see the results?

Patients notice an immediate “glow” and plumping to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks, while cell regeneration takes place. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Some patients only require a single treatment once a year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments; 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with concerns about deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars, it is recommended to receive 4-6 sessions at 6 week intervals.
